Kodak Shakes-up Inkjet Printing

With the following printer Kodak likely will shake-up inkjet printing:

The shake-up will be due to 4 major factors:
1)The printer is well targeted plopping right into the multifunction market;
2)The printer is fast delivering 30ppm B+W, 22ppm color – very fast;
3)The printer’s ink is archival lasting 100 years versus 5-10 for competitors;
4)The printer’s ink cartridges will cost half of what HP, Canon, and Epson charge.

The printers work with Windows, Vista, and MacOS and will cost between $150 and 300US. They will be sold exclusively at BestBuy out lets for the first three months of availability which is to start in early March. Finally, a major printer player is attacking overpriced inkjet cartridges. However, we have not seen 3 crucial features of the printer: 1)what are the different page/paper sizes supported and 2)what paper thicknesses can be tolerated; and 3)how will it perform with non-Kodak papers – so we are still from Missouri on this printer. But given the bet-the-business proposition, I suspect Kodak will make this printer work as well if not better than their competition.
